Newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, fine art and published books from the former Rochester Civic Garden Center library.

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

This collection documents the history of the Rochester Civic Garden Center as well as other gardening and horticulture organizations in the area. Notable publication subjects include the Lilac Festival, Flora and Sylva, and garden clubs. The books mainly concern international garden design. Within the oversize series are maps of Monroe and Livingston County Parks as well as photographs. Within the scrapbooks are paintings done by Ruth V. Christie and the records of different garden clubs throughout the 20th century, such as the Little Garden Club (started in 1931) and the Men’s Garden Club of Rochester, which began in 1948. The photo albums show pictures taken at horticulture events in the 1990s.
