Postage stamps and letters, 1983-2002
Scope and Contents
This series consists of non-postcard ephemera that David Canfield donated from his personal collection. Much, though far from all, of the contents of this series is related in some manner to Rochester postal or transportation history. Materials in this series include photographs, documents, pamphlets, broadsides, and other advertising. Also included in this series is Canfield's extensive collection of Rochester matchcovers. These objects retained using the organizational scheme developed by Canfield and are held in 3 binders. The item-level inventory to them is found on the Local History drive, along with a paper copy in binder 70. Copies of the Rochester Evening Express of February 17, 1868 and Moore's Rural New-Yorker of May 18, 1867 were separated from this series and is stored with the Historic Newspaper Collection due to their size and condition.
