Content Description
This collection consists of the records of Dignity-Integrity/Rochester, a religious organization based in Rochester, New York. The materials date between 1975 and 2025. The records are comprised of administrtive records, personnel papers, correspondence, newspaper clippings, event flyers, schedules, bulletins, liturgies, photographs, membership records, conference proceedings, meeting minutes, newsletters, homilies, scrapbooks, CDs, audiocassettes, realia, ephemera, published materials (e.g., Dignity/USA journals, lectionaries), and posters.
Dignity-Integrity/Rochester was chartered in 1975 as the first combined chapter of the national organizations of Dignity/USA (Roman Catholic) and Integrity, Inc. (Episcopal). The majority of material is related to the regular gatherings of the community, including bulletins, liturgical materials, monthly newsletters, special events, and correspondence relating to the scheduling of liturgists, homilists, and presiders for Roman Catholic and Episcopal liturgy services. Materials also include meeting minutes, administrative materials, and papers of the Dignity/Integrity Community Council. Other topics include: newsletters for national chapters of Dignity/USA and Integrity, Inc.; regional and national conference proceedings; reports to the Roman Catholic and Episcopal Dioceses of Rochester; correspondence with Bishop Matthew H. Clark and other representatives of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester; community surveys; membership rosters; policy statements; homily transcripts; advocacy materials for the Employee Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), New York's Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination Act (SONDA), and other legislation impacting the LGBTQ+ community; an amicus brief filed in the New York State in support of same-sex marriage; event flyers, programs, and newsletters for Rochester-area LGBTQ+ organizations; and an assortment of newspaper clippings relating to the LGBTQ+ community in Rochester, New York.
