Contacts – Business, Professional, Government Organizations , 1983-1985

This series contains files collected by board members to educate themselves on pertinent issues and provide background information about major organizations. The American Association of Museums (AAM) provided sample by-laws and charters, museum accreditation standards, museum ethics, and the 1984 report by the Commission on Museums for a New Century. A contacts file contains directories of local and national business, professional, and government organizations. Directories include: College Instruction in Photography (1983); Directory of Associations in Monroe County (December 1983); Rochester Neighborhood Associations List (December 1983); Who Represents You: A Guide to Your Elected Officials for Monroe and Wayne Counties (1985); and United States Senators (n.d.). The Smithsonian Institution file includes the National Museum of American History’s Collection Management Policy (2/1/1984) and general information on the National Museum of American Art. The Visual Studies Workshop (VSW) file includes articles on the possible move of the VSW to Arizona, development of an MFA program with SUNY College at Brockport and SUNY Buffalo, as well as miscellaneous articles on Nathan Lyons and the collections and exhibits at VSW.
