American Bar Association Gavel Award, 1985
Scope and Contents
The material in this sub-collection documents the activities of William J. Pearce, who served as president and general manager of WXXI-TV, AM/FM from 1969 to 1996. The majority of the materials are related to Pearce's time at WXXI.
Correspondence, photographs, production notes, as well as items about WXXI's history document Pearce's devotion to public television and continuing education. The papers also document the transition of WXXI from the small studio in the basement of the old East High School to the building on State Street, and the addition of an AM and FM station during his time.
