Photocopy of a letter from William G. Watson, of the Rochester Clearing House Association, to the Rochester Historical Society. Dated December 27, 1936, the letter explains details of the Rundel estate that had been in controversy and includes his reminiscences of Mr. Rundel in his later years.

Administrative History

The Rochester Clearing House Association was the local clearing house thayt facilitated financial and securities exchanges between banks in the Rochester area, and between Rochester banks and those outside of Rochester. William G. Watson was one of the organizers of the institution. Watson attended the Rochester Free Academy and Rochester Business University as a young man. Starting on August 12, 1889, when he took a position as a messenger for the Commercial National Bank, Watson built a career in Rochester banking, rising to become vice-president of the Lincoln-Alliance Bank and Trust Company in 1927. He held this position until his retirement on April 1, 1946. He helped organize the Rochester Clearing House Assocation in 1909 and served as its manager for 38 years. An avid gardener and member of Central Presbyterian Church, Watson was husband to Eleanor D. Watson, with whom he had two daughters. Wialliam G. Watson passed away on November 26, 1947 and is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
