Biographical / Historical
The Rochester Licensed Drug Clerks Association formed in April 1885, apparently at the instigation of Curtis H. Haskins, a Rochester pharmacist. The group's Constitution and By-laws were formally adopted at a meeting on April 29, 1885. The organization was open to all licensed pharmacists in Rochester, providing a professional association whose meetings included opportunities for professional education. The organization also advocated for the interests of professional pharmacists, including the enforcement of an 1884 state law requiring that anyone practicing pharmacy be properly licensed. However, the organization appears to have had a short life, as mention of it in area newspapers ends in mid-1886. Why and how the organization dissolved is unknown.
