Kathie Meredith worked for the Canandaigua Daily Messenger newspaper from 1968 to 2008 as both a photographer and journalist. This collection includes numerous clippings from her journalistic career (articles on Rochester topics), along with original photographs she took to accompany articles on visits by Richard Nixon and Nelson Rockefeller to Rochester in the 1970s. The materials date between 1971 and 2007.

Biographical Note

Kathie Meredith was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Franklin College in Indiana for her undergraduate degree, followed by earning a master's degree in journalism from West Virginia University. She took a position as a photojournalist with the Canandaigua Daily Messenger in 1968, and spent the next 40 years reporting on local and national news. She is perhaps best known for photographs of Richard Nixon's 1971 visit to Rochester. Being from Indianapolis, she developed an interest in motorsports at a young age, and is also known for her photography at Watkins Glen International Speedway. An exhibit of this work was held at Elmira, New York's Arnot Art Museum in 2020. Meredith retired from the Daily Messenger in 2008, but continues to reside in Canandaigua.
