Biographical / Historical
George H. Aylesworth was born in Canada in October of 1890. His family emigrated to Rochester while he was young; they first appear in the Rochester City Directory in 1897. George's father, John, was a photographer who became a foreman at Kodak and was successful enough that George was able to complete high school, attending Rochester's East High. The scrapbook that comprises this collection starts in George's high school years, emphasizing school sports; George played baseball for the school varsity team and was Team Captain in 1912, the year of his graduation. While at East High, he met Elsie Duncan; the two became a couple and married on June 24, 1915. George attended college and became a draftsman. He also served as a volunteer for the Rochester Y.M.C.A., leading hikes and eventually serving as a physical instructor at U.S. Army camps during the First World War. George's life after the War is unclear. By 1935, he lived in Manchester, New Hampshire, and then moved to Greenburgh, New York by the 1940 census. He appears to have passed away in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1973.

Condition Description
Condition is generally good. The pages are intact, but the binding shows weakness at the headcap. Most contents are in good condition; the photographs are of some concern as many show silver mirroring. Several loose items are interspersed in the book. Pages have been interleaved and loose items sleeved or placed in envelopes as necessary.
