The Reverend Gerard Benjamin Fleet Hallock was born to Homan Benjamin and Adelia Ann Hallock on January 28, 1856 in Holliday's Cove, West Virginia. Gerard decided to enter the ministry at a young age and attended Princeton University, graduating in the class of 1882, then receiving his Doctor of Divinity in 1885. He married Ann C. Cobb, of New York City, in 1888. They had four children: Clarissa, Archibald, Marianna and Adelia. Called to the pastorate of Wheatland Presbyterian Church in Scottsville after his graduation, he joined Rochester's Brick Presbyterian Church in 1890 as assistant minister, and served the congregation for over 50 years. His wife was also the long time head of the Ladies' Missionary Society. Rev. Hallock was author of over a dozen books in such areas as Christian theology and apologetics, along with a history of Brick Church. He also created the chruch's long-running newsletter, Brick Church Life. Rev. Hallock retired in 1930 and passed away at the age of 97 on December 6, 1953.
