Biographical / Historical
Joseph Bloss was born to William and Mary Blossom Bloss in November of 1839. His father was dedicated to anti slavery and involved the family in those endeavors. The family home on East ave was used as a stop for the underground railroad. Joseph adopted his fathers anti slavery sentiments as he continued on in life. Joseph was also a member of Political Equality and served as one of the vice presidents of The Humane Society of Rochester from 1885-1895. Joseph also went on to write "The Morning Breath of June" in 1884, along with various poems that were published in the "1894 Magazine of Poetry." Joseph would pass away in July of 1926 and is currently buried in Brighton Cemetery in Rochester, NY.
