This collection contains of one ledger book kept by Leon DuBois containing a list of contributions towards erecting a statue in honor of Frederick Douglass.

Biographical / Historical
Leon DuBois was born in February 1865 in Oswego County N.Y. Leon worked as a Clerk for the Central Trust Company as a stock clerk for 46 years and was also an life member of the Eureka Lodge. He achieved the rank of grand officer within the Eureka Lodge. Leon would pass away at the Strong Memorial Hospital in December 1948.
The Frederick Douglass Monument was unveiled in Highland Park in Rochester NY on June 9, 1899. The bronze model for the monument was sculpted by Sidney Edwards and the pedestal is made of Granite from the Smith Granite Company in Rhode Island. The Eureka Lodge in Rochester N.Y. was instrumental in their role establishing the Monument of Douglass in Rochester and raising funds for its creation.
