Biographical / Historical

Thomas Van Tuyl was born in Jerusalem N.Y. on April 7 1816 to Abraham and Rachel Van Tuyl. Thomas married his wife Survina in 1840 and the couple decided to move to Prattsburgh shortly after. Thomas opened a few shops in Prattsburgh and used the Erie Canal to travel back and forth from N.Y.C. to trade twice a year. Thomas passed away on December 24th 1888 in Prattsburgh N.Y.
