Biographical / Historical
The town of Parma was originally known as Northampton, and then Fairfield. The town of Parma was officially recognized on April 8, 1808 and the name was changed to Parma after a town of the same name located in Italy. The first settlers of Parma were the Davis family in 1805. By 1809 Elisha Davis has built the first tavern. The first store was built in 1812 by J. Thompson, which also stood as the first post office in the newly named town. This area soon became known in the town of Parma as "Parma Corners."
