Biographical / Historical

Ashley Sampson was born in 1790 in the state of Connecticut. He studied law at Middlebury college and was admitted to the NY bar. He moved to Rochester in 1818 where he practiced law and served as a judge and a member of the city counsel. Sampson was a known abolitionist in the Rochester area.
