Not much is known about this family. This is a collection of documents the deeds of the Hawes family. The earliest documents are signed by Silas Hawes who was a farmer and lived in West Bloomfield, Ontario, New York. Among the deeds for land are legal correspondance and undated articles.

Biographical / Historical

Not much is known about the family. The Haws family lived and farmed in West Bloomfiel, Ontario, New York. The Patriarch of the family, Silas Haws, was born in 1778 and died in 1837. He was a farmer along with his son Cadwalader (1810 -1876) In the collection there are deed and agreements for land that the family had for farming.

The great grandson of Silas Haws, Elwood D. Haws was a member of the Protectives of the Rochester Fire Department.Which was part of a “reorganization” of the Rochester Fire Department.

This collection consists of legal documents and deeds belonging to the Haws family. The documents range from 1808 - 1925. The Haws family lived in West Bloomfield, New York. The family owned land for farming. Many of the documents in the collection are for land deeds. The collection is compromised of land deeds, lawyer correspondance and undated articles.
