Biographical / Historical
W. Eugene “Gene” Sweeney was born in Rocheester NY in 1930. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and retired from Rochester Coca-Cola Bottling Corporation after 35 years. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League. Gene served 30 years as a volunteer fireman with the Egypt Fire Department and past president of its Exempt Club. He was a founder of the Greater Amateur Athletic Federation in Rochester. His autobiographical stories cover different parts of his life including stories of his service, stories of the fire department, historical events and about his life growing up.
