Biographical / Historical
The Rochester Savings Bank was officially opened in 1831 at the address of 47 West Main Street. The Bank would eventually move to 47 State Street in 1842. The Rochester Savings Bank was the sixth savings bank in N.Y. and the first built west of Albany. After some hardships, losses, and moving buildings, the Rochester Savings Bank merged with the Community Savings Bank in the early 1980s.
