Administrative History

This collection of material was received from the Strong Museum of Play in a folder labeled Erie Canal Materials. While most of the materials can be directly related to the Erie or other New York State canals, the association of the materials with one another is unclear. (The Strong was unable to provide original provenance beyond these materials coming from the Margaret Woodbury Strong estate.) As such, the Rochester Public Library has elected to keep the materials as one artificial collection due to their subject matter and historical association through Strong's collecting.
