United Nations Association of Rochester Records

The Rochester Association for the United Nations (RAUN) was established in 1945, shortly after the founding of the United Nations, to support and advance the new organization's mission of promoting international peace, cooperation, and understanding. Formed by a group of prominent Rochester civic and community leaders, RAUN was among the earliest local United Nations associations in the United States and quickly became an influential presence in the Rochester region.

Throughout its history, RAUN served as a bridge between global issues and the local community. The organization sponsored a wide range of educational and public outreach programs designed to increase awareness of international affairs and foster greater understanding of global interdependence. Its activities included public discussion forums, Great Decisions study groups, lectures, and a speakers bureau that brought experts on international topics to local audiences.
