Content Description
The Freedom Trail documented the Underground Railroad in New York, which from 1830-1860, through an active network and secret system of networks, assisted enslaved people to freedom. Additionally, the Freedom Trail sought to establish a program for the Underground Railroad and a corresponding instructional curriculum.The bulk of the material is correspondence and guidebook development of the Freedom Trail. It also includes the project proposal. This collection also includes newspaper clippings, publicity, publication proofs, drafts, photographs, information regarding markers and monuments, as well as conferences and meetings. The collection additionally documents events related to the Freedom Trail throughout New York State.
