Views of Rochester photographs, 1860-1915
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of the records of the Rochester New York based gas and electric company, RG&E (Rochester Gas and Electric). The materials date between 1860 and 1998, with a bulk of the materials dated between 1905 and 1970. The collection consists of photographs, correspondence, administrative documents, diagrams, and maps.
The majority of the material is photographs. The photographs document the powers stations and processing sites, the daily operations, publicity, and modernization projects.
This collection also consists of documents concerning the formation and incorporation of the gas and electric companies in an around Rochester. It also includes correspondence pertaining to the payments to and from the administration of Citizen's Gas Company, as well as diagrams and maps pertaining to the daily operations of Rochester Gas and Electric.
