Scope and Contents

This collection consists of papers regarding the instructional activities performed by the City Historians, Blake McKelvey and Ruth Rosenberg-Naparsteck. The materials date between 1938 and 1995, with a bulk of the materials dated betwee 1960 and 1986. The papers consist of student essays, student exams, field trip curriculum, and lectures.

This serires consists of Rosenberg-Naparsteck's collaboration with the High Falls Center. It also contains student papers, student exams, and lectures for Blake McKelvey's local history courses at the University of Rochester.

Biographical / Historical

During their time as City Historians, Blake McKelvey, Ruth Rosenberg-Naparsteck, and Joseph Barnes participated in educational outreach at local colleges and schools, often collaborating with local Rochester museums to create field trip curriculum and activities. They were also involved in teaching local history classes at the college level which resulted in student papers and exams. The City Historians were also asked to lecture at local organizations and events.
