"Business as a Profession" - Chapter II: Apprenticeship, circa 1978
Scope and Contents
This sub-series consists of manuscripts and materials related to manuscripts written by Blake McKelvey. The materials date between 1955 and 1994, with a bulk of the materials dated between 1973 and 1980. The materials consist of correspondence, first draft manuscripts, edited manuscripts, and galley proof.
The manuscripts that are included in this sub-series are:
Rochester on the Genesee: The Growth of a City 1st and 2nd edition
Snow in the Cities: A History of America's Urban Response
Business as a Profession: The Career of Joseph C. Wilson, Founder of Xerox
The materials in the sub-series contain the first draft of The Rochester on the Genesee: The Growth of a City when it was titled A History of Rochester and it's Ten Successive Generations. It also includes the index, acknowledgements, table of contents, and preface. The manuscripts have handwritten edits both from the publisher and McKelvey.
The Snow in the Cities folders include manuscripts that were edited or annotated by typewritter.
The Business as a Profession folders contain edited manuscripts, and correpondence. The Rochester on the Genesee folders include manuscripts, photos, publisher contracts, publisher correspondence, and a full galley proof of the 1st edition. It contains the same materials for the 2nd edition of the book as well.
