This collection documents the activities and programs of the United Nations Association of Rochester (UNAR). Established in 1945 following the founding of the United Nations, the Rochester chapter was the first United Nations Association formed in the United States. The records reflect the organization's efforts to promote international understanding, civic engagement, and awareness of global issues within the Rochester community.

The collection documents UNAR's three principal programs. The Model United Nations program, held annually each March at St. John Fisher University, provides students with opportunities to engage in simulations of United Nations proceedings. United Nations Day, celebrated each year on or near October 24, features educational programming focused on international and local issues, including refugee resettlement, climate change, and related social concerns. The Internship Program connects local college students with community organizations working in areas such as refugee assistance, women's advocacy, education, and environmental sustainability.

Materials in the collection provide insight into the administration, development, and impact of these programs and the broader activities of the organization.
