Administrative History
The Philosophers' Club was founded in 1937 under the leadership of Jacob Gitelman, a Rochester lawyer and, later, judge. Originally intended as a group strictly dedicated to discussing the great philosophers, the group soon expanded to other intellectual topics. Restricted to 15 members, the membership takes turns presenting papers for discussion.
