The Antiquarian Study Club Records document the 69-year history of a local organization of like-minded individuals interested in engaging with history by means of group interaction and activities. Group members were also active collectors. The records consist of scrapbooks, bylaws, meeting minutes, photographs, programs, and member lists dating from the organization’s founding in 1942 to 2005.

Scope and Contents These records document the activities of the Burroughs Audubon Nature Club of Rochester, the oldest conservation group in the area. Included are booklets, correspondence, manuscripts, newsletters, and documents related to Rochester-area native flora and fauna. This collection consists of the papers of Harold S. Hacker, Director of the Rochester Public Library from 1954 to 1978 and the "father of WXXI", the first noncommercial public broadcasting television station in the Rochester area. The materials date between 1929 and 2004. The papers are comprised of Harold Hacker's personal and professional correspondence, speeches, reports, newspaper clippings, publications, and awards.

Content Description

Notes, ephemera, receipts for annual dues, and incorporation share receipts from the Rochester Athletic Club, 1888 to 1894. The collection also includes receipts from stock sales in the Rochester Athletic Association from 1877. It is unclear how these materials came to be intermingled in this collection, as the two organizations do not appear to have been connected in any way.
