Biographical / Historical

Edgar Newell Curtice was born December 4, 1844, in Webster, New York. He attended Satterlee’s Collegiate Institute and at the age of 21 became involved in the grocery business with his brother Simeon Goodnow Curtice. At the time of his death this business was one of the largest manufacturers of food products in the world and known for the product “Blue Label Ketchup.” He was a trustee of the First Baptist Church, Director of the Lincoln National Bank, a member of the chamber of commerce, the Gnesee Valley Club, Rochester Country club, and Oak Hill Country club. He was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery.
