Genealogy--New York (State)

Anah Babcock Yates was a historian and genealogist, one of the first people to research the history of Rochester, New York through archival sources. Her papers include genealogical research, correspondence, clippings, photographs, legal documents, a hair album, information on early (white) Rochesterians, documents on Ebenezer Allen, early probate records, and genealogy information. The papers date from 1839 into the 1930s.

This collection consists of two scrapbooks, two notebooks and one folder housing the papers of Doctors Chester and Charles A. Dewey, father and son. Chester's papers include materials on botany, zoology and the Ayrault family (collateral relatives of his wife Olivia), while Charles' papers are concerned with local history and genealogy.

Notes, letters, family trees, articles, statistical records and other genealogical information produced by the Genealogy Round Table of Monroe County (formerly the Genealogy Round Table of Rochester) from 1933 to approximately 2000. These records consist primarily of notes made by the members of the Round Table, and do not generally provide comprehensive information on any given person or family.

This series consists of correspondence to and from Carol Fede, secretary to the City Historian's office. The materials date between 1993 and 2000. The materials consist of correspondence regarding genealogy and research, copies of microfilm and newspaper clippings, and thank you cards.
