Consists of genealogy notes, correspondence, newspaper clippings,and other information on the Brown, Woodworth, Abell, Bulson, etc. families. Also includes primary source materials suchs as letters, hand written birth, death, baptismal, and marriage dates and records. Included in the papers are a small amount of materials related to Leon R. Brown's professional career as a civil engineer.

Biographical / Historical
Leon R Brown was a civil engineer and graduate from Cornell University. He was an engineer for the New York State Railways And was the president of the Rochester Safety Council. He wrote many articles on traffic safety and won awards for his articles. He wanted to help fix the traffic issue in Rochester. He used statistics and surveys from different locations to help determine what would need to be remedied to make the traffic in Rochester better for everyone.
He wrote multiple books on genealogy one was titled "300 American ancestors of Leon R. Brown" He also wrote a book on youth safety titled "Youth's guide to safety", by Leon R. Brown and Mary Margaret O'Connor. Brown for a hobby was interested in his genealogy which is where the extensive collection comes from. He traced his ancestry back through multiple generations and branches and would correspond with people from all over to either their questions about the ancestry he did or to build up his collection by adding new information in.

This collection contains information on genealogical trees of multiple families that date back to New England and over to England going back to the 1600s. Some families included in this collection are Brown, Woodworth, Wood, Bulson. The collection contains correspondence that go between Leon R Brown and people looking for help with their ancestry along with correspondence of sending information in between people to build their family trees.
