Scope and Content Note
The collection deals primarily with the Midtown Plaza shopping mall in Rochester, New York, particularly the Plaza’s 20th and 25th anniversaries. Materials include press releases, newspaper clippings, photographs, slides, and miscellaneous office documentation. Two scrapbooks of newspaper clippings concern planning for the shopping center that eventually became Rochester’s Marketplace Mall.

Biographical Note
Angelo Chiarella was president and chief executive officer of Midtown Holdings Corp., overseeing the Midtown Plaza shopping mall and office tower in Rochester, New York. He also served as a vice-president of McCurdy and Co. and on the board of trustees of The Strong.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Donated by Angelo Chiarella, 2005. Three boxes of additional materials transferred to RPL by The Strong in May 2015.
Accruals
Three boxes (1, 2, 3) of material donated by Angelo Chiarella to The Strong in 1999 were transferred to the Local History division on May 19, 2015. Papers related to Mr. Chiarella’s service on the Strong Museum’s Board of Trustees have been separated from this collection and incorporated into the institution’s archives.
