Abstract

This collection consists of materials related to the history of Rochester, New York's Base Hospital 19, a Red Cross-affiliated U. S. Army reserve unit. The materials between 1915 and 1918. The materials consist of a typescript history of the unity, letters, telegrams and photographs.

This collection consists of two scrapbooks, two notebooks and one folder housing the papers of Doctors Chester and Charles A. Dewey, father and son. Chester's papers include materials on botany, zoology and the Ayrault family (collateral relatives of his wife Olivia), while Charles' papers are concerned with local history and genealogy.

This collection consists of the papers of Dr. John M. Swan of Rochester, New York, a leader of the Medical Officers' Reserve and founder of Base Hospital 19 during the First World War. The materials date between 1922 and 1941. The records include letters, reports, memoranda, photographs and other materials.

Content Description Scrapbooks and papers of Dr. Charles Forbes, a physician, scientist and inventor born in Kendall, New York. He was best known for inventing an individual communion cup, but this was only one of numerous inventions and apparatus he created. Forbes taught at Macalester College and at Columbia University, along with operating several business enterprises.
